7月12日、タレントのryuchell（りゅうちぇる）さんが渋谷区の所属事務所で、死亡した状態で発見された。享年27。警視庁は自殺を図ったとみている――。

一方で、女性として生きていくことに思い悩んでいる様子も見えたという。昨年12月と今年5月に本人から直接、悩みを聞いていたというryuchellさんの友人が振り返る。
「昨年12月に会った時、ryuchellはパットやブラジャーで胸の形を作っていて、女性らしくなるために色々な努力をしている時期でした。『手術とか、痛いことは絶対しない』『かわいくなりたい』と言っていましたね。
今年の5月に会った時は深刻な様子で、『最近ホルモンバランスが悪い』と悩みを打ち明けていました。色々と悩みは多かったようで、『女の子は本当大変なんだ、毎月生理とか本当に尊敬する』とか、『これから体調悪くなるのが見えてるけど負けない』などと、強い意志を持とうとしているのを感じました」
テレビでは明るいキャラで人気を博していたが、ryuchellさんが出演した番組の関係者によると、「どこか影があって、繊細な方」だったという。
「なぜ命を絶つという選択をしてしまったのか。残念です」
そう言って、この関係者は肩を落とした。
