ジャニー喜多川氏「性加害問題」で物議の山下達郎が〝老害〟呼ばわりされる「世知辛さ」
天下の山下達郎（70）までもが「老害」扱いされる世の中になってしまった――。
シンガーソングライターの山下達郎と言えば、昭和～令和を代表する大物。めったに人前には出ず、黙々と楽曲制作をしてきたが、このほどジャニーズ事務所創業者・ジャニー喜多川さんの性加害問題に関連した発言で批判が寄せられている。
発端は音楽プロデューサーの松尾潔氏が山下の所属事務所『スマイルカンパニー』から〝契約解除〟されたこと。原因は松尾氏がジャニーズ事務所の性加害問題に苦言を呈してきたからで、同氏は１日にツイッターで
《山下達郎さんも会社方針に賛成とのこと》と明らかにした。
スマイルカンパニーとジャニーズ事務所は昵懇で、山下は近藤真彦やKinKi Kidsなどのジャニーズタレントに楽曲提供している。
そうしたなか、山下は９日放送のTOKYO FM『山下達郎の楽天カード サンデー・ソングブック』に出演。松尾氏の契約解消について、もともと同氏との間に雇用関係はなく
「契約終了については事務所の社長の判断」「契約を終了するよう促したわけではない」と否定した。
ここまではまだ良かったが、一連の性加害問題について山下はウワサでは耳にしたことはあったが
「音楽業界の片隅にいる私に、ジャニーズ事務所の内部事情などまったくあずかり知らぬこと。まして性加害の事実について知るすべはまったくありません」とコメント。
終盤には「ま、このような私の姿勢をですね、忖度あるいは長いものに巻かれているとそのように解釈されるのであれば、それでも構いません。きっとそういう方々には私の音楽は不要でしょう」と述べた。
この〝上から目線〟の物言いがヤリ玉に挙げられた。ネット上では
〝嫌なら聴かなければいい〟と意訳され
「何様だ」
「そういう人とは思わなかった」
「長年のファンですが、この発言は残念です」
といった反発を招いた。なかには山下を「老害」認定し、音楽業界からの退場を促す声も。
山下さんの主張は明瞭で、性加害は容認できないが、プロデューサーとしてのジャニー喜多川さんのことは尊敬しているというもの。しかし、白黒はっきりつけたがる昨今の風潮にそぐわず「ジャニーズを擁護している」と捉えられてしまったようだ。これには音楽関係者も
「業界に多大な貢献をしてきた人を『老害』扱いするのは、さすがにかわいそう。結果論ですが、山下さんはラジオで話すべきではなかった。所属事務所が対応すればよかった」と話す。
老害批判に関しては山下にとどまらず、『サンデーモーニング』（TBS系）の関口宏や、かつて同番組で〝ご意見番〟として名を馳せた野球評論家の張本勲氏、政界では失言が多い森喜朗元首相や麻生太郎氏、二階俊博氏などが「老害」と揶揄されている。
「失言・暴言はもってのほかですが、古くからの価値観を変えられず、時代の潮流からズレている人が『老害』呼ばわりされる傾向にあります」（スポーツ紙記者）
一方で、高齢になっても指針となる人もいる。90歳の現役俳優・仲代達矢もそのうちの１人だ。
仲代は３月、御年90歳で〝一人芝居〟に挑戦。舞台関係者によると
「チケットは即完売。90歳で一人芝居は考えられません。セリフ覚えなどどうしているのか…。仲代さんの話を聞いて、多くのベテラン俳優が『自分も負けていられない』と刺激を受けたそうです」と話す。
何かあれば「老害」呼ばわりされる嫌な世の中になったが、仲代のように年齢に逆らって活躍する人もいる。
