日本体操協会の新理事に就任した内村航平さんが25日の臨時理事会で、4月に開催された体操の全日本選手権女子決勝の競技中に、テレビの生中継で選手へのインタビューが行われたことについて「選手は（試合が）終わるまで演技に集中している。あり得ない」と苦言を呈した。
日本協会はファン拡大に向けた新たな取り組みとして、各種目の合間に有力選手へのインタビュー実施を認めた。事前に選手の承諾を得ていたが、予選首位だった山口幸空（米田功ク）が平均台で左膝前十字靱帯損傷の大けがを負ったこともあり、内村さんは「それが原因ではなかったとも言い切れない」と述べた。
